Talk:Health/Damage
From Ace of Spades Wiki
We need to figure out a way to add pictures to this. Anyone have ideas? --Andrea 18:48, 24 April 2011 (EDT)
- I'm not sure I understand what you mean, do you want to know HOW to add pictures, or what are you trying to say?---Inheritor
- No, I mean, we need to add pictures to the Page, as in we need pictures to 'beautify' the health/damage page. Does that make more sense? --Andrea 18:57, 24 April 2011 (EDT)
- Maybe a picture of someone getting shot? --Ace 19:00, 24 April 2011 (EDT)
- I'll turn on the official Wiki server when I return home in about an hour, from there we can get the pictures we are looking for in a controlled environment without disruption. ---Inheritor
- So is the server up yet? -->Halfbro<-- 20:26, 24 April 2011 (EDT)
- Not that I know of. --Andrea 20:32, 24 April 2011 (EDT)
- The only relevant pictures I could think of are graphs to make the amount of damage easily visible when only looking at it for like, two seconds. Because of the 'conflict' on fall damage, I have not added that one yet. Chosen 14:07, 25 April 2011 (EDT)
- I don't think visualizing the rifle damage by a plot is necessary. The data set contains 3 entries (limb, body, head) which are related in a way which cannot be easily represented on a straight line. In my opinion a table would be much easier to read and can give exact damage amounts more easily. Malu 19:31, 25 April 2011 (EDT)
- I agree. Either a table, or just take a picture of a player and label the different damage zones. --Ace 20:14, 25 April 2011 (EDT)
- Sorry, my computer took a crap and I can't host the server currently, sorry I didn't inform you of this earlier.---Inheritor
- I agree with Ace, we need some sort of diagram of a player and mark the zones of damage.

- I agree, the graph is unnecessary. bildramer 06:47, 26 April 2011 (EDT)
- If anyone can get me a pic of a body, I can edit it and put the hitboxes on the body parts (like a red tint over the head). E-mail: [email protected] -->Halfbro<-- 11:18, 26 April 2011 (EDT)

[edit] "Each block adds to the damage taken by about 5."
Can anybody back this up? It seems unlikely that the fall damage would have to do with the distance fallen, and not the speed at which you are falling. --Ace 11:38, 25 April 2011 (EDT)
- Just fell from 6 and only lost 4HP. Less than 6 and I incurred no damage. 7 blocks - 16 damage GM
- You lost 16 health from 7 blocks? Wow. Me and someone on the server were testing and we never got 14 from 7... However 6 blocks was 4 damage, like yours. Are you completely sure that it was 7 blocks? -->Halfbro<-- 20:14, 25 April 2011 (EDT)
- I don't think it's the block count that damages, it's the vertical velocity. The vertical velocity wouldn't necessarily be exactly related to the number of blocks you fall, different bugs and rounding errors can result in you moving faster or slower down. --Ace 20:16, 25 April 2011 (EDT)
- Hmmm. Maybe. If anyone has a server to do some more official testing I would gladly help. -->Halfbro<-- 20:19, 25 April 2011 (EDT)
- Or perhaps we could decompile the files to get the raw formula's. Not sure if there is something in the license forbidding us from doing that, though. Chosen 01:10, 26 April 2011 (EDT)
- We really need to know more about how it works. I don't even know what language it's written in. I think people would be glad to create apps etc for it (like a server admin program) but we can't! Need Askoy to show his face... somewhere. As for damage calculation, if Ben doesn't show up I'd probably say yes to decompiling. TheGrandmaster
