Ben Aksoy is a 24 year-old independent game developer born in Queens, New York. He originally studied Aerospace Engineering, but after taking some C programming courses, transitioned into a full blown Computer Science degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After college he signed up to undergo training as a nuclear propulsion officer in the Navy.
Development on Ace of Spades first began during
his time at Officer Training Command Newport. He spent his
down-time on base laying down the groundwork for a voxel based
shooter, without any real idea of how the gameplay would end up. The
Blue vs Green teams in Ace of Spades is a slight reference to the heated contentions between Navy Chiefs and Marine Drill Instructors
during his time in Officer Candidate School.
After his departure from the Navy, he started Fort Point Solutions, a
small web design and hosting business, although he would still work on
Ace of Spades on his time off. He runs his own webservers for his business
but had to undergo an upgrade when AoS had gone viral. His web design
work is on hiatus as long as donations provide enough income to devote
full-time to AoS.
He composes pieces on guitar, and is an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He used to live in Fairfield, CT, but has recently moved to the UK and fancies European beers.
